Student helper position (m/w/d; 19h/week, 6 months)

The Experimental

Ecology group in iDiv, offers a position for a student helper to assist in field and lab work related to the Soil Food-Web subproject of the Jena Experiment.

The field sampling will consist of soil core extraction from the experimental plots in the Jena Experiment, to assess soil fauna species richness and abundance as well as microbial biomass.

This will be followed by the extraction of nematodes and mesofauna from the soil samples in the lab facilities at iDiv (Leipzig) and macrofauna in the facilities of the Animal Ecology Working Group in the University of Göttingen.

Subsequently, meso- and macrofauna will be sorted to broad taxonomic groups so that they are sent to experts for further identification.

Who can apply?

If you are interested in soil fauna ecology and have experience in field work and processing of soil animal samples in the lab or have a strong interest in developing those skills you are invited to apply.

Driver’s license (type B), is necessary.

Position time

The offered position is for 19 hours per week for six months, starting mid-June and you will be employed by the University of Leipzig.
